Paint Pursuit ๐จ๐๏ธ
A downloadable game
Paint Pursuit is a 1v1 card game inspired by Paint Chase from UFO50. To play, you will need a standard deck of cards (minus jokers).
Start by splitting red and black cards between players. Your card color is your ๐จ color. Each player should also choose a face card of their choice to represent their car ๐๏ธ (e.g. Jack of Clubs, Queen of Hearts). Black โซ is Player One, and Red ๐ด is Player Two
๐ฅ Countdown Phase (Setup)
The race is about to begin! Players alternate placing initial paint cards in a grid pattern. 3-2-1...
- Player One โซ places three of their cards down onto a 2D grid. Cards must be adjacent to at least one other card
- Player Two ๐ด places three cards
- Player One โซ places two cards
- Player Two ๐ด places two cards
- Player One โซ places one card
- Player Two ๐ด places one card
- Player Two ๐ด places their car ๐๏ธ on any red card on the grid
- Player One โซ places their car ๐๏ธ on any black card on the grid
Each player should set aside two of their cards face down as special "Wall ๐งฑ" cards
๐ Go! (Gameplay)
Players alternate turns, starting with Player One. One a players turn, they can perform one action from a few options:
- ๐๏ธ Drive - Player moves their car in a straight line until it reaches the end of the grid, the other player's car, or a wall.
- If the player's car passes over any of the opposing player's cards, they must place one of their cards on top. Cool cars leave paint behind when they drive ๐จ
- Cars can not be on top of walls or each other, so the driving car should stop just before the other player or wall. For example, a before and after of the line the red player drives:
- Before: ๐๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅโฌโฌโฌโฌ๐
- After: ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๏ธ๐
- ๐จ Build - Player places one of their cards down onto the grid. The new card must be adjacent to another card they own
- ๐งฑ Wall - Player places on of their "Wall" cards onto the grid, on top of any card not adjacent to either player
๐ Winner (Ending conditions)
The game ends once either player has used all of their cards.
Each player should count the number of cards they have visible on the grid. Whoever has more wins!
